Hurricane Ike took my fence and now my dog is making me crazy! I walk him every day for about 45 minutes.?

.

Ever since the fence blew down, he CONSTANTLY does this little "growl" type thing to go out the back door. I have to put him on a leash now because of the fence being gone and he absolutely does NOTHING but sniff around! He crosses the fence line into the neighbors yard and we slowly walk around there while he is just sniffing and he does nothing else. Finally I end up bringing him back in and he goes right back to the door and does it again!! My insurance guy is supposed to come out this week, but it could still be up to 3 months before anyone can come put a new fence up because they are so busy. Please help me figure out what will make him stop going to the door. Also, chaining him up is not an option that makes him happy. He barks the whole time. He is a golden retriever if that helps.

In my opinion he just wants to go outside, some dogs love outdoor life better than indoor life…………like my spitz and min pin.

First of all, sorry to hear about your fence. Hurricanes suck! Since he is not used to being walked regularly, you’ll have to get him in a routine. Try to walk him at least a couple of times a day and if you walk the same route, he’ll get into a routine and start to remember where he likes to relieve himself. Dogs can be creatures of habit like us. If all else fails, call the Dog Whisperer! Good luck.

see if a neighbor or a friend that still has a fence wouldn’t mind babysitting him.. thats the only reasonable answer i could think of!
